Dear Dr Love,I am a 19 year old male and am worried that my balls are too small. I have seen other men and I am definately a lot smaller. I have always been ashamed to show my body in the locker room and I am scared to date a woman for fear that she will think I am freak. Can they be enlarged? Please help.
I understand that you are embarassed over looking different from other men. And, it is also normal that your confidence would waver as a result. I want you to know that the average testicle measures 1. 5 inches long and 1 inch wide (although it is also normal that 1 may be slightly larger than the other). If your testicles do not measure close to this normal range, please consult a urologist Significantly smaller testicles can be a sign of a health problem such as a tumor of the pituitary gland.If your testicles are small due to a health condition, then, they can become larger when the condition is improved. If your testicles measure near the normal size range, yet you have the idea that they are too small, then it would be good to consult a psychologist or counselor. Many men have the incorrect idea that larger testicles are a sign of being more manly or fertile–not true. ( Note: enlarged testicles can also signal a serious health problem as well and require medical evaluation). So, check with a urologist and get back to me. Good luck.
