To resolve jealousy, one must identify the emotional issues that trigger it. Jealousy can be defined as the fear of being replaced by another. In other words, jealousy is really the fear of abandonment. To resolve a fear of abandonment, it is necessary to trace the fear back to its origins in childhood and work through the hurt and anger that still remains from the original wound. Early abandonment damages the self-esteem; this explains why a person who was abandoned fears being left as an adult. Deep down he/she feels unworthy of love. Healing the self-esteem by surrounding oneself with loving and caring people and improving self-talk is a necessary step to overcoming jealousy.
